Indus wins FWHA services deal

The Federal Highway Administration has awarded Indus Corp. a contract valued at nearly $175 million over 10 years for information technology services.

Indus, an IT and Web solutions company based in Vienna, Va., will assist with the development of Internet-based data visualization tools and will supply secure access to transportation databases.

It also will support enterprise architecture, network infrastructure, help-desk, document management and video telecommunications systems at FHWA headquarters and field locations.

The company will "help strengthen an FHWA where data is transformed into knowledge, driving real-time decisions to produce coordinated, positive changes in our nation's intermodal transportation systems," said Shiv Krishnan, Indus president and chief executive officer, in a news release today.

Indus has selected Signal Corp. as its lead subcontractor. Other team members include PricewaterhouseCoopers, York Telecom Corp. and the Centech Group Inc.

The task order started May 1, just three months after Indus began work on a $55 million business applications and engineering services contract — its largest at the time — in support of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.

The company is providing Web solutions, IT architecture, enterprise infrastructure and systems engineering for Goddard's business information systems.
