Ptech adds TeamWork option

Enterprise architecture tool vendor Ptech Inc. recently introduced a new product option called TeamWork for its popular business modeling software that helps manage revisions and eliminate the coding conflicts that can arise when workers collaborate on complex modeling projects.

Modeling an organization's business operations and information technology systems through flow charts, diagrams and databases is a central task in creating an enterprise architecture.

"We're seeing more interest in using our technology enterprisewide, and so the teams of domain experts who contribute to the modeling get bigger," said Hussein Ibrahim, Ptech's vice president and chief scientist.

Before this new release, modelers using Ptech's Enterprise Framework modeling software would typically funnel any revisions they wanted to make through a single project leader, who would review the changes for potential conflicts before committing them to the master database.

With TeamWork, individual modelers can now update the master database directly but are warned by the software if their proposed changes conflict with any already made by other modelers. The software gives the modeler a detailed explanation of any conflicts and offers choices to resolve them, from simple measures such as resolving naming conflicts to more complex ones such as model redesigns.

TeamWork is available on the General Services Administration schedule and starts at $13,800 for a five-user license.
