Systems integrator acquires professional services firm with many federal customers

Systems integrator American Systems Corp. announced today that it has acquired Business Plus Corp., a professional services firm that counts the Defense Department, the Secret Service, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Internal Revenue Service among its customers.

The companies did not disclose financial terms of the acquisition.

Hampton, Va.-based Business Plus will continue to operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary using its own name. Business Plus chief executive officer Fred Berger will become senior vice president and executive director of the subsidiary, reporting to American Systems CEO Elliot Needleman.

The acquisition was part of American Systems' push to increase its market share, including in the federal sector, Needleman said in a statement. American Systems is based in Chantilly, Va.
