SecureInfo scores another infosec contract

The Air Force recently awarded an $8.3 million contract to SecureInfo Corp., a provider of enterprise information security management solutions, to provide cybersecurity management solutions for the Air Force Computer Emergency Response Team (AFCERT).

AFCERT is the response force that isolates and contains suspicious or intrusive activity on all Air Force networks worldwide. It is the single point of contact for the assessment, reporting, analysis and handling of all computer security incidents and vulnerabilities.

The Air Force's 33rd Information Operations Squadron, a subordinate organization of the 67th Information Operations Group at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, awarded the contract Dec. 20, 2002, and work began Jan. 6, said Michael Garcia, a vice president at SecureInfo.

Sixteen SecureInfo workers will be deploying, analyzing and operating the network monitoring capabilities for AFCERT, Garcia said. The contract includes one base year and four option years.

The AFCERT deal represents the third major federal information security project awarded to SecureInfo in the past six months.

In November, SecureInfo and Veridian Corp. were awarded the General Services Administration's $10.8 million task order to support the Federal Computer Incident Response Center, and in August, the company led the winning vendor team on the Department of Veterans Affairs' $103 million Computer Incident Response Center deal.
