Air Force buys master control panel

Network and systems administrators in the Air Force's air operation centers will have to look only in one place to monitor and fix system failures or glitches, thanks to a solution from Adroit Systems Inc. (ASI).

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate recently awarded ASI the Advanced Technology Master Caution Panel (ATMCP) contract, which is designed to enhance the monitoring of command and control systems at air operations centers.

"This capability will allow the Joint Air Operations Center staff to monitor the health status of all command and control resources in the center," said Elizabeth Kean, program manager in the directorate's Information Systems Division. "If a critical event occurs, for example, a computer goes down or an application fails, this can adversely affect many different operators in the center. The ATMCP will determine who is affected by the failure, notify those affected, and provide suggested courses of action to fix the problem or work around it until a fix can be developed."

ASI specializes in defense and intelligence business, including command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, logistics, knowledge management, and intelligence analysis.

The two-year, nearly $1.5 million contract was awarded to Alexandria, Va.-based ASI on Jan. 29 and work began immediately, according to an AFRL spokesman.

On Feb. 3, SRA International Inc. announced that it has completed its acquisition of ASI. SRA plans to absorb all of ASI's current management team and operating divisions into its command, control, communications and intelligence business unit.
