Northrop, BEA form alliance

Alliance is intended to bring the companies more deeply into the federal IT market

Northrop Grumman Corp. and BEA Systems Inc. today announced a formal strategic alliance intended to bring the companies more deeply into the federal information technology market.

The companies—already heavy-hitters in federal IT—believe they can combine their areas of expertise into a strong offering, Tom Wilson, vice president of strategic alliances with Northrop Grumman IT, said in a statement announcing the collaboration.

Northrop Grumman's strengths are in information systems, enterprise IT solutions, and other hardware and software systems, while BEA's WebLogic Enterprise Platform provides an application infrastructure.

Northrop Grumman IT sector is headquartered in Herndon, Va., while BEA is based in San Jose, Calif. Under the terms of the partnership, both companies will identify new business opportunities suitable for the combined offerings.
