Displays, graphics adapters offer new visual experiences
Three products reflect advances in display technologies
No area of computer technology has undergone more rapid change in the past few years than displays. Razor-sharp flat-panel displays are available in larger sizes and with lower price tags, and advances in LCD technologies have enabled designers to construct portable and tablet PCs with larger, clearer screens.
Graphics adapters also deserve credit for the new visual experiences available to users of those great new LCD displays. New adapters offer faster performance with richer colors and greater flexibility in supporting multiple monitors.
In this roundup, we examine a few products that demonstrate those new capabilities. Specifically, we tested midsize flat-panel displays from Eizo Nanao Technologies Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a new large-display tablet PC from Motion Computing Inc., and Matrox Graphics Inc.'s new Parhelia graphics adapter.
