Small biz wins FAA oceanic contract

The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded a $57 million contract for oceanic services to Joseph Sheairs Associates (JSA) Inc., a small business.

The seven-year deal will support the FAA in national airspace engineering, system development and prototyping.

"The contract demonstrates the FAA's commitment to provide opportunities for small business to participate fully in important national airspace modernization efforts," Charles Keegan, the agency's associate administrator for research and acquisitions, said in a March 31 news release.

JSA has teamed with subcontractors CSSI Inc., Titan Corp. and Bloodworth Integrated Technology Inc.

The company will contribute to programs at the FAA, including the Advanced Technologies and Oceanic Procedures, Dynamic Ocean Track System Plus and Microprocessor En Route Automated Radar Tracking System as well as the legacy systems in use today.
