Rep. Tom Davis is awarded NASCIO's inaugural National Technology Champion award
The National Association of State Chief Information Officers awarded its inaugural National Technology Champion award to Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.) for his work toward advancing technology and e-government.
The group cited Davis' work in passing the Digital Tech Corps Act, the E-Government Act of 2002, the Federal Information Security Management Act and the Critical Infrastructure Information Act.
"Tom is an ardent supporter of the industry," said Virginia technology secretary George Newstrom, who accepted the award on behalf of Davis, who chairs the House Government Reform Committee. Davis prepared a video in accepting the award.
NASCIO President Gerry Wethington, who is also Missouri's CIO, said the award will be presented annually to an individual who has contributed significantly to government operations related to information technology.
