Former Navy official joins Booz
Long-time Navy IT exec Ron Turner will join Booz Allen Hamilton.
Ron Turner, the longtime Navy information technology executive who retired late last year, is going to join Booz Allen Hamilton.
Turner, who most recently served as the Navy's deputy chief information officer for infrastructure, systems and technology, retired from government service after some 30 years.
Turner could not be reached for comment.
The 2003 Federal 100 winner had been a central figure in leading the effort to deploy the Navy Marine Corps Intranet, the department's attempt to create a single network across its shore-based sites. He has also played an important role in the creation of the Navy's CIO office. He was one of the first members of the Navy Department's CIO staff.
Among the other issues in which Turner played a major role:
* The development of the Navy Department's enterprise architecture.
* Documenting information technology requirements
* Identifying supporting systems and data.
* Developing the Navy's plans for using Extensible Markup Language to improve the flow of information servicewide.
