AMS to acquire Vredenburg

American Management Systems has planned to acquire R.M. Vredenburg & Co., a defense and intelligence contractor specializing in professional and technical services. The companies announced a definitive agreement for the acquisition on July 15.

AMS will pay $42 million in cash from Vredenburg, based in Reston, Va. The purchase, which AMS expects to close in about a month, will bring about $60 million in annual revenues, access to more government contract vehicles and new customers in the Defense Department and the intelligence community to AMS.

"This acquisition is consistent with our strategy of achieving growth and scale within our primary markets through both organic and inorganic means," said Alfred T. Mockett, AMS chairman and chief executive officer in a statement. "In Vredenburg, we have chosen an organization that will build on our legacy of commitment to the national security community and is an exceptional cultural fit with our existing public sector practice."
