IBM Rational gets DOD enterprise licenses
The Army signed a blanket purchase agreement with immixTechnology under the Defense Department's Enterprise Software Initiative.
Defense Department agencies can now purchase IBM Corp. Rational software development tools from the General Services Administration schedule under a new blanket purchase agreement (BPA).
The Department of the Army signed the BPA with immixTechnology Inc. under DOD's Enterprise Software Initiative, which negotiates agencywide licenses for software products. ImmixTechnology, based in McLean, Va., is part of government business consulting firm immixGroup Inc.
Under the agreement, DOD agencies and contractors they hire can buy the entire line of IBM Rational software products at pre-negotiated prices. The department's enterprise licensing initiative is a model for SmartBuy, a new enterprise licensing effort under way in civilian agencies.
The programs enable multiple agencies to combine their buying power and negotiate lower volume prices for software that is widely used, such as office automation.
