The Federal Aviation Administration has chosen Optimus Corp. to provide a local-area network and help-desk support. The contract award comes under the FAA's Broad Information Technology Services II (BITS II) contract.
Optimus, a small firm specializing in public safety technology, will provide desktop-user support, LAN server and infrastructure support, configuration management, IT inventory, asset management and training.
The FAA intends for BITS II, finalized in the summer of 2003, to aid small businesses in government contracting. Optimus also won the first task order issued under the contract to develop a system to prevent runway collisions.
The contact is worth about $4 million for its first year and could run to a total of eight years, according to Optimus officials.
