Lockheed Martin enterprise unit gets top software rating
It's the fourth division of the company to get a 5 under Carnegie Mellon's Capability Maturity Model Integration system.
Lockheed Martin Corp.'s Enterprise Information Systems unit has achieved a Capability Maturity Model Integration rating of 5, making it the fourth Lockheed unit to do so.
Carnegie-Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute developed the CMMI system to measure the degree of structure and documentation that companies have in their software development and other processes. Five is the highest rating.
"Receiving SEI's highest independently-assessed levels for engineering maturity exemplifies that Lockheed Martin is employing the largest concentration of engineering expertise in any one corporation," said Lockheed Martin chief information officer Joseph Cleveland in a statement. "The disciplined processes underlying CMMI appraisals help our businesses achieve overall improvements in program and financial performance."
