NCI buys spy business

In a transaction that will expand its presence in the intelligence community, NCI Information Systems Inc. has purchased Scientific and Engineering Solutions Inc. for an undisclosed sum.

Officials at both companies say they believe the acquisition will combine the capabilities of the two companies into a more powerful supplier to the intelligence community. SES draws about 90 percent of its customers from that base, while NCI specializes in secure information systems, including telecommunications and network infrastructures. NCI counts defense and intelligence as about 60 percent of its customer base.
