Connecting the dots
Law enforcement will be able share unclassified information with operators of critical infrastructure.
The Homeland Security Information Network-Critical Infrastructure pilot program in Dallas, Seattle, Atlanta and Indiana will allow federal, state and local law enforcement officials and others to share unclassified information with key owners and operators of critical infrastructure systems.
The technical capacity of the network includes the ability to:
Send 10,000 outbound voice calls per minute.
Send 5,000 simultaneous e-mail messages.
Send 3,000 simultaneous fax transmissions.
Receive 30,000 simultaneous inbound calls via an information hot line.
Enable the public to submit information about suspicious activities to the FBI and state and local law enforcement officials.
Search contact names and numbers and assets such as services and equipment that could be used during an emergency.
