Pay for performance picks up steam
Administrators have major efforts under way to implement pay for performance at the Defense and Homeland Security departments as well as for the Senior Executive Service.
Ron Sanders, the Office of Personnel Management's associate director for strategic human resources policy, provided an update on those projects: DHS officials published proposed regulations in February, with final rules expected this fall; proposed regulations for DOD's initiative are due early next year; and the Senior Executive Service issued interim regulations and put a new system into effect in January, with final rules expected soon.
