Health and Human Services Department officials have awarded an $18.5 million contract to SRA International Inc. for operations and maintenance for an enterprisewide public-key infrastructure program.

SRA has helped the department design, develop, implement and support the PKI system since 2002. The company, based in Fairfax, Va., would continue program management, system development and support, and other services under the new five-year contract, if all options are exercised.

The PKI program allows the department to electronically and securely communicate with organizations and people to collect and send data within and outside the department.

In other health-related news, the National Cancer Institute, which is part of the National Institutes of Health, selected Altum Inc. to implement a Web-based project query system to help users extract information from databases into spreadsheets and reports.

The company, based in Reston, Va., will help NCI's financial management branch track more than $1 billion in grant funding.
