John Stenbit, the Defense Department's former chief information officer, is joining the board of directors for ViaSat Inc., according to company officials.
Stenbit, who retired from DOD earlier this year, has a lengthy track record in private industry.
Stenbit took a lead role in the transition to information-centric warfare, and helped to develop information systems to support intelligence and operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
ViaSat develops products related to satellite and wireless communications.
