Commerce hires Systalex
Systalex Corp. won a $79 million contract to run a business systems support center.
Commerce Department officials have awarded Systalex Corp. a five-year, $79 million contract to operate, maintain and upgrade a departmentwide business systems support center.
The Rockville, Md.-based company was one of several contractors on the project, but it will become the prime contractor to provide on-site support and upgrades for Commerce's Core Financial and Enterprise Business Systems support center in Gaithersburg, Md., and other locations, according to a company press release. Accenture is a subcontractor on the project.
Commerce officials modernized their financial management system in the mid-1990s and are now replacing their business systems with ones that will facilitate the move toward e-government. Systalex will also support the new systems, according to the press release.
Systalex is the sole reseller of Oracle Corp. products and services that is certified under the government's 8(a) program for small and disadvantaged businesses. The company will provide design and programming support, disaster recovery, accounting support, business process re-engineering, data conversion, training and data warehouse technical support, among other services.
