Northrop wins DOT work
The company will provide engineering and IT services at the John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center.
Transportation Department officials awarded Northrop Grumman Corp. a contract worth up to $46 million for engineering services at the John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center.
The Volpe Center provides technical research and analysis services to DOT and other federal, state, local, international and other transportation organizations.
Under the terms of the follow-on contract, Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector will continue to provide technical services for the Volpe Center's management and control systems for surface, sea and air traffic. The work will include developing navigation, sensor-and-surveillance, guidance-and-control and communications systems. The five-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract is worth up to $46 million.
"Our long-standing relationship with the Volpe Center will allow us to expand and improve upon our current technology capabilities," said Kent Schneider, president of Northrop Grumman IT's Defense Enterprise Solutions unit.
For Volpe's communications systems, Northrop Grumman's Electronic Systems unit will provide satellite technology, network management, network planning and system design and engineering. Northrop Grumman officials will also oversee the analysis, design, development, testing and evaluation for guidance and control systems.
Northrop Grumman's team includes Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., Edwards and Kelcey, JDA Aviation Solutions, Jerry Thompson and Associates Inc., RLM Software Inc. and Safety Net Solutions Inc..
