SI to buy outsourcing firm

Continuing an effort to broaden SI International's customer base, company officials have signed an agreement to acquire Shenandoah Electronic Intelligence (SEI), an outsourcing services firm that counts the Homeland Security Department as its biggest customer.

SEI, founded in Harrisonburg, Va., 18 years ago, has about 1,600 employees, most of whom have security clearances. The company provides business process outsourcing services including records management, applications support, secure optical-card processing and analytical support.

"We believe that the acquisition of SEI will allow SI International to deepen its presence within the Department of Homeland Security and will expand our portfolio of service offerings through the introduction of complementary capabilities in the areas of business process outsourcing," said Ray Oleson, SI's chairman and chief executive officer, in a statement.
