Troux finds Blueprint for Metis merger

A small information technology architecture specialist is playing a role in shaping an emerging enterprise architecture tool suite.

Blueprint Technologies, based in Vienna, Va., has worked with Computas Technology’s Metis business architecture modeling product for three years. Following Troux Technologies' acquisition of Computas in January, Blueprint had an opportunity to assist with the linkage of Metis into Troux's tools.

"We are participating in the process of helping integrate Metis and Troux's products together," said Craig Miller, director of enterprise planning solutions at Blueprint. He added that the task has afforded his company a chance to gain insight into Troux’s product set.

Troux provides Enterprise Baseline, a data collection tool used to map IT environments, and IT Governance Suite, which links business and technology architectures with financial, regulatory compliance and planning capabilities. Joining the mix is Metis, a visual modeling tool familiar to federal integrators engaged in enterprise architecture projects.

Blueprint has employed Metis on projects at agencies including the Food and Drug Administration.

Bernie Thuman, Blueprint's FDA account manager, said the company has been using Metis to create an enterprise architecture, with an emphasis on modeling FDA's core business processes. The modeling work will help pave the way for a service-oriented architecture.

As for Troux's tools, Miller said the products provide capabilities such as data collection. In addition, Troux's products are "designed to support very large sets of data," Miller said. That support is helpful when doing departmentwide enterprise architectures, he added.

Finally, Troux offers "very strong analysis and reporting capabilities," Miller reported.

Troux, meanwhile, has moved to bolster its government offering. Late last month, company officials introduced their Defense Department Transformation Solution, which meets DOD architecture framework requirements.
