CACI adds translation to suite

CACI International today unveiled an alliance and reseller arrangement with Language Weaver, a maker of human language translation software.

Language Weaver, based in Marina del Rey, Calif., was launched in 2002 to commercialize a statistical approach to machine translation. In 2003, the company captured federal government development contracts for productization of its core technology. Language Weaver began delivering its software to government and commercial customers in 2004, according to the company.

CACI plans to integrate Language Weaver's machine translation software into its Document Exploitation suite, which combines document capture, optical character recognition, indexing, and machine translation. The product is intended to help government customers analyze information that originates in foreign languages. CACI's agreement with Language Weaver covers the latter company’s modules for Arabic, Chinese, French, and Spanish.

CACI will market the software bundle to military, law enforcement and intelligence customers pursuing homeland defense among other markets.
