Today is the launch of FCW Media Groups' new Government Health IT publication.
The 'publication' is starting online... and will become a print publication later this year. It is fairly innovative to start a publication online even before it has a print presence, although there are a few other publications have done it. It seems to make sense. It allows publishers to determine if there is an interest before proceeding with the much more expensive proposition of launching a print publication. It mitigates risk. That being said, the first Government Health IT print publication will be out later this year.
As you may have been able to tell, health IT has become much more of an issue for Federal Computer Week. Part of that is the 'follow the money' mantra -- feds are spending a lot of money on it, therefore it must be important. But there is so much out there, we felt that it deserved a more focused examination then we could ever give it here in FCW. And Government Health IT will also cover these stories more in depth than FCW will... and it will have a more focused audience.
That being said, even if you aren't specifically involved in government health IT, the publication is worth a look. Health IT is just a fasinating subject. If you are involved in this issue, it is easy to subscribe to the bi-monthly (two times a month) newsletter and the magazine, which will come out later this year.
And of course we'd love to hear your thought or ideas about the publication.
