All eyes on London

It is one of those mornings when you wake up to the news on the radio and you can tell that something is going on. I guess it is the tone of the broadcaster's voice. But when I woke up at 6a, it was pretty early early on that the situation in London was serious.

Personally, living in Washington, I am of course reminded of panic that surrounded 9/11. I'm sure I am not alone.

We'll be keeping our eye on London all day, of course, and we will be watching for potential impacts on agencies.

Here is the Web site for British Prime Minister Tony Blair, which has the PM's statement on the explosions. That site also links to Directgov, which appears to be the British equivalent of FirstGov, the U.S. government portal. The UK Web site posts emergency information... And here is a link to the British Home Office, which is the UK equavelent to the Homeland Security Department.

It will be interesting to see how British government Web sites get information to the public.

Regardless, our sympathies go out to that city as they deal with the situation both immediately... and in the hours, days, weeks, and months ahead.
