Indus guns for DOD, intell work

Recent acquisitions push company past $100 million mark.

In a bid to capture a greater share of the defense and intelligence markets, Indus has acquired two companies that will push its revenue past the $100 million mark and immediately put the company's footprint on the Defense Department.

The two companies Indus acquired are integrator AB Floyd Enterprises and the Secure Network Services Division of Halifax. The Halifax unit offers secure infrastructure support services, while AB Floyd provides information technology solutions. Both firms specialize in defense and intelligence.

“Defense and intelligence is a big haul," said Shiv Krishnan, Indus’ president and chief executive officer. "If we grow into a $100 million company just supporting federal civilian agencies, that’s only 40 percent of the marketplace. DOD and intell have needs for the same types of technologies that we offer to the civil agencies.”

Indus leaders began considering their long-term strategies about 18 months ago, which led to the decision to grow by acquiring companies in the new markets, Krishnan said.

“The combination of the two [acquired companies] will give us a nice $30 million base within DOD and intelligence, and access into the intelligence component of the DOD community too," he said.
