EDS picks new state and local chief

Rick Shaffer previously managed the integrator's state and local government business in midwestern and south central states.

Rick Shaffer, a 21-year veteran at EDS, has been named vice president in charge of delivering services to the company’s state and local government customers. His formal title is vice president of state and local government delivery.

“Rick brings outstanding leadership experience in the government marketplace to this role, including overseeing significant business growth for EDS in the Medicaid arena,” said Barbara Anderson, vice president of EDS’ state and local government solutions division, in a press release. Anderson is Shaffer's supervisor in his new role.

“His successful track record in leading our state and local client and account teams through procurements, implementations and day-to-day client service delivery will be invaluable as we continue to grow our state and local government business,” she added.

Previously, Shaffer was responsible for EDS’ state and local government business in several midwestern and south central states. Within the company, he also served as program manager for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service account. He has also worked in the company’s commercial sector.
