LightPointe opens government office
Company specializes in outdoor high-speed wireless networking.
LightPointe, a company that specializes in outdoor high-speed wireless technologies, has launched a government deployment and reseller program in an attempt to meet growing demand at the local, state and federal levels, according to the company.
Called LightPointe Government Connect, the program provides incentives, training and sales tools for resellers.
Bob Preston, LightPointe's senior vice president and chief marketing officer, said the company is quickly gaining traction at the state and local level, and interest is growing within the federal market. The company's major government installations currently include Passaic County, N.J.; Baltimore County, Md.; Miami-Dade County, Fla.; Reading, Pa.; and San Francisco.
The company is also developing military customers, he said.
LightPointe technology allows the creation of secure wireless networks outdoors, ideal for situations where stringing wires would be difficult. They are also well-suited for rapid deployment in temporary settings, such as the quick restoration of communications after a natural disaster or other emergency.
GTSI offers LightPointe products through four of its contract vehicles. The list of LightPointe resellers also includes CDW Government, Pacific Voice and Data and TelData Communications.
