BRAINS!

, which apparently broke the story.I'll show you my brainscan if you show me yours?I can say that my holiday shopping just got a bit easier -- brain calendars for everybody!

This isn't really IT related either, but it is just too irresistable.

In one of several WSJ.com e-mail newsletters I get each day is this item:

The Perfect Gift … for Somebody
Looking for a holiday gift to leave that certain someone speechless? Next month the University of Illinois's campus bookstore will offer "Big Brains," a 2006 calendar featuring artistically enhanced brain scans of 12 campus administrators, faculty, staff and students. Each image will emphasize a brain region or function used by the person whose brain has been scanned: For instance, the brain scan of the university president's assistant will emphasize an area used in multitasking. Your columnist would have preferred to see what part of the assistant's reptile brain lights up with the desire to assault the persnickety junior professor who constantly objects to the selection of sandwiches at faculty meetings, but oh well. Degustibus non disputatum est, as they used to say.
