DOJ expands Altiris relationship

The Justice Department has increased the number of licenses it holds for Altiris' SecurityExpressions, software that automates security compliance processes. Justice's license now includes more than 140,000 workstations and servers.

The department uses the software to optimize its existing efforts to comply with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), the E-Government Act of 2002 and Justice’s information security policies, according to Altiris.

Privacy and data security are critical elements of federal IT requirements. SecurityExpressions includes predefined system security policy files, including files for FISMA compliance. Those policy files audit for system security configuration settings, system security patches, antivirus status, personal firewall status, industry-known vulnerabilities, unauthorized software and unauthorized hardware.
