Unisys, Oracle tighten relationship
Companies to collaborate on government call centers, network and security management and other projects.
Long-time partners Unisys and Oracle are turning their attention to outsourcing and public-sector call center solutions as they explore ways to make their relationship more effective.
The companies recently announced plans to jointly deliver outsourcing solutions in such areas as network and security management, asset management and call center support. In addition, Unisys and Oracle are working together to develop a customer relationship management application for 311 contact centers, which local governments use to handle non-emergency calls.
On the technology side, Unisys and Oracle will develop validated configurations for Oracle's database, and applications running in both Linux and Windows environments.
Janet Haugen, Unisys’ chief financial officer, pointed to the Oracle alliance as part of the company’s strategy of offering a “matrix” of product and service offerings with the help of partners. The objective is to provide a portfolio of hardware, software, middleware and services, she noted during a presentation at the Morgan Stanley Software, Services, Internet and Networking Conference.
The companies have been partners since 1984.
