CACI to buy IT provider

CACI International is planning to buy the assets of Information Systems Support, an information technology solutions provider with a strong presence in the government market. The companies did not disclose terms of the deal, but they expect the transaction to close in the first three months of 2006.

ISS, based in Gaithersburg, Md., specializes in communications and logistics. CACI expects the acquisition to add about $75 million in revenue in the second half of 2006.

ISS has about 1,100 employees in 10 states. Its major clients include all three branches of the military and other Defense Department agencies, along with the Justice and Transportation departments, the General Services Administration, and the Social Security Administration. More than 70 percent of its employees hold security clearances at secret or higher levels.

"The acquisition of Information Systems Support Inc. is an important strategic step for CACI in continuing to increase shareholder value, accelerate growth and increase our scale both organically and through acquisitions," said J.P. "Jack" London, CACI's chairman, president and chief executive officer, in a written statement.

Also in a written statement, ISS President and CEO Eric Whittleton said that becoming part of CACI is good for ISS. "CACI is a world-class company whose commitment to its customers, employees, investors and the community in which it serves is uncompromised," he said.

Consultant Neal Fox said that ISS had been one of the best contractors on the Applications ’N’ Support for Widely Diverse End-User Requirements (Answer) governmentwide acquisition contract.

"CACI has brought a highly regarded Answer vendor onto their team, which will certainly enhance their position in governmentwide procurement," Fox said.
