Idaho agency hires Ciber for EA work

Ciber will help the Idaho Transportation Department establish an enterprise architecture under a three-year, $3 million contract.

The department's Enterprise Architecture Office awarded the contract, which calls for Ciber to develop a blueprint, implement the architecture and train the agency’s staff in its use. Ciber’s Government Enterprise Architecture Practice will perform the work.

The project also involves defining the requirements for and selecting an enterprise architecture repository tool, said John Curley, director of delivery for Ciber’s Government Enterprise Architecture Practice.

Curley said additional work might be identified in the course of the project, but the company’s objective is to teach the department’s architects-in-training “so they can take over and do what Ciber was initially brought in to do.”

“Our end goal is to work ourselves out of a job,” Curley said.

Ciber’s Government Enterprise Architecture Practice has worked on more than 40 projects for government entities. Customers include Missouri and the National Association of State Chief Information Officers. Services include continuity of operations and continuity of government planning, strategic IT planning, project oversight, independent validation and verification, and enterprise architecture.
