SRA International will provide enterprise messaging and other services to the National Institutes of Health under a contract that could be worth as much as $15 million.
The task order was awarded under the Chief Information Officer Solutions and Partners 2 Innovations contract. SRA will support NIH’s Center for Information Technology. In addition to messaging, SRA will offer IT infrastructure support.
According to SRA, the company will assist NIH in the development and maintenance of IT systems used by more than 40,000 users at NIH. The scope of work spans scientific, administrative and other business applications. Services offered under the contract include systems engineering, operation and maintenance, software development, and systems security. The contract also covers the evaluation and deployment of emerging wireless technologies.
SRA has been pursuing general IT and bioinformatics projects at NIH for several years. In 2004 the company captured a $13.6 million pact to develop a bioinformatics resources center for NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infections Diseases.
