Vericept expands government effort

Vericept, a maker of compliance and content control solutions, is working with integrators and distributors to boost its presence in the government market.

Alternative Technology, a distributor specializing in security solutions, has added Vericept's products to its General Services Administration schedule. Alternative created a special program in September to give its security-focused partners, including Vericept, access to its GSA schedule. Alternative acts as a reseller; it takes orders and then turns to the partners for the goods.

Vericept has been pursuing the government market for about a year, said Brett Schklar, vice president of marketing at Vericept.

The company has also opened a federal office in Reston, Va., and is working with three systems integrators, which Schklar declined to identify.

“We expect [government] to be the fastest growing vertical industry for us in 2006,” Schklar said.

Vericept’s content control technology monitors Internet traffic such as e-mail and instant messaging and flags inappropriate content.
