GPO outsources to FedEx Kinko's

Federal employees who need to run small print jobs, make copies or do similar tasks can now go to the neighborhood FedEx Kinko's to do them. The Government Printing Office has entered into a business partnership with FedEx Kinko's to expedite agencies’ last-minute production needs, according to GPO officials.

The agency is responsible for distributing information about the work of the government to the public.

A new program, GPOExpress, specifies discounts on most of the stores’ services, such as digital printing, scanning, binding, online printing, and brochure and poster production. Federal employees will also have access to FedEx shipping services, but not UPS delivery.

To take advantage of GPOExpress, an employee needs an individual authorization card. The card enables GPO to bill services to the employee’s agency when the job is completed. The pass does not work like a debit or credit card, which employees can use to charge the service directly to the agency.

GPO officials expect GPOExpress to be implemented governmentwide later this month. A select number of agencies are testing the service first.
