Washington Consulting goes direct
Company has built a reputation through subcontracting and now wants to take the lead, with a new GSA schedule contract as a foundation.
Washington Consulting, a management and information technology consulting firm trying to become a major player, is about to begin looking for direct relationships with federal buyers. The company has recently won a General Services Administration Schedule 70 contract, a critical element in developing those relationships, according to Dan Maguire, managing principal at the firm.
Prior to the GSA schedule award, the company had been building its federal presence as a subcontractor, Maguire said. The company’s federal subcontract work has focused on enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) services, the latter geared toward case management applications.
Maguire said the company now plans to offer those same services as a prime contractor.
Washington Consulting’ federal ERP practice pursues finance modernization projects, concentrating on SAP and Oracle applications. On the CRM side, the company uses software packages from vendors such as Siebel Systems to build case management solutions.
In addition, Washington Consulting has begun to focus on independent verification and validation services, which Maguire said is an important and growing area of expertise for the firm.
As a subcontractor, the company has worked for IBM on an SAP implementation for the Customs and Border Protection service, and for Computer Sciences Corp. on the Education Department’s Education Resources Information Center portal.
