Georgia to create Web site for small-business owners
Information that comes from several state agencies will soon be available through a single Web site.
The Georgia Technology Authority is planning to develop a Web site that will help small businesses get information about rules and regulations, proposed changes and contacts across various agencies in one place.
Earlier this week, Gov. Sonny Perdue signed an executive order to help reform the way state agencies work with small businesses. The order requires agencies to review their rules and regulations and consider ways to make them less burdensome to small businesses, and to appoint a liaison to help small-business owners.
“Small businesses make up 95 percent of all businesses in the state,” Perdue said in a prepared statement. “By streamlining state government to accommodate their needs and making it easier for them to do business, we will strengthen the small business sector that is so critical to Georgia’s economy.”
Perdue also ordered GTA to build a Georgia Rules and Regulations Web site by June 1 to provide a single site for small-business owners to find needed information that originates in several different agencies.
While the one-stop site will just post information initially, GTA officials plan to make it more interactive over time, with added features including forms that can be completed and submitted online, according to a GTA spokesman.
