Blogging from IRMCO

So I'm down here in Williamsburg, Va. for a few days at the annual IRMCO Conference, which is one of the big conferences that we cover.. We're roughing it at the Kingsmill Resort and Spa, which I had never heard of but which seems very nice from just my first few hours here. It sits right on the water -- and has golf, of course!

Unfortunately -- well, not unfortunately, but... I had a wedding to go to in Cleveland this weekend, so I rushed to get all the down here, but I missed Vinton Cerf, one of the creators of the Internet who now serves as Google's vice president and chief Internet evangelist. They also had Rushworth Kidder, author, Moral Courage: Taking Action When Your Values are Put to the Test. By most accounts, Kidder was very interesting -- there are many moral issues facing feds these days -- but several people were just a bit disappointed that he didn't connect moral courage to some of the issues that this community faces. But that is probably asking a lot from somebody.

In my initial hours -- there are a lot of GSA folks here -- but my initial sense is that the nomination of Lurita Alexis Doan as GSA administrator does seem to have given folks some hope. I'll let you know as the next two days move on. Doan has already started reaching out to GSA folks, and so that has given her more good will within the agency.

More to come, as they say.
