Advanced Technology Systems wins FBI deal
The three-year contract continues work the company has performed at the FBI's Strategic Information and Operations Center for the past eight years.
Advanced Technology Systems has captured a $2.4 million information systems support contract from the FBI.
Under the contract, the integrator will support the FBI’s Strategic Information and Operations Center in Washington, D.C. Advanced Technology Systems will handle tasks such as server administration, e-mail administration, and application development and maintenance. The three-year contract continues work the company has performed at the center for the past eight years.
The center was launched in 1989 to monitor events surrounding the inauguration of President George H.W. Bush. It replaced an ad hoc emergency operations center created for specific crisis situations, according to the FBI. The bureau initiated an upgrade of the facility in 1995 and opened a new facility in 1998. That year, Advanced Technology Systems designed and deployed the new center’s classified and unclassified information systems.
The center’s equipment includes 60 miles of fiber-optic cable and 225 computer terminals with access to three local-area networks, according to the FBI.
Federal Services Acquisition Corp. announced an agreement in April to acquire Advanced Technology Systems for $84 million in cash and $1 million in stock. The deal is expected to close this summer.
