RSA Nears Deal to Sell Itself
The pioneering digital-defense company RSA Security is near a deal to sell itself to data-storage giant EMC or another bidder, the New York Times reports. RSA, which makes the physical SecurID security cards widely used in authentication systems at corporations around the world, quietly put itself up for sale several months ago, people involved in the auction process tell the Times, adding that a deal could be worth more than $1.8 billion and be reached in a few days. That would top the company's market value of $1.46 billion. It wasn't clear who the other possible bidders might be, the Times says.
