Apogen wins La. technology award
The company was cited for its efforts in assisting employees through the company’s Gulf Coast Relief Fund.
Apogen Technologies’ work related to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts earned it recognition recently as a New Orleans-area technology provider.
The company received the Outstanding Leadership in Technology award this week from the Louisiana Technology Council and Greater New Orleans Inc. The award was presented at the organizations’ third annual eWARDS event, which recognizes the technological achievements of companies, organizations and individuals in the region.
Apogen was cited for its efforts in assisting employees through the company’s Gulf Coast Relief Fund. It raised $615,000 through employee and partner donations to help Apogen employees most adversely affected by the hurricane, according to the company.
It was also recognized for overseeing continuity-of-operations (COOP) activities at the National Finance Center, an Agriculture Department operation responsible for paying the federal civilian workforce. After Katrina, Apogen enacted the National Finance Center’s COOP plan.
In addition, Apogen was cited for its work on the Federal City project. That project aims to transform the Naval Support Activity facility in New Orleans into a federal government high-tech headquarters complex. Apogen earlier this year was awarded a Federal City consulting contract.
