Bloggers en vogue

I don't know if this means that blogs have jumped the shark or are in vogue, but this item from the WSJ.com's Washington Wire:

In a sign of the power of the Internet in politics, incoming Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky has hired a "new media director" tasked with coordinating Republican senators' interactions with the blogosphere.

Jon Henke, a conservative blogger will take the job, which is said to be the first full-time job of its kind, at least on the Republican side of the Senate. Henke joined Sen. George Allen's unsuccessful re-election campaign as "netroots coordinator" after Allen's "macaca" incident.
