Doan back in the hot seat
GSA Administrator Lurita Doan is back in the hot seat tomorrow before Rep. Henry Waxman's Government Oversight and Reform Committee. Given all the attention to the Hatch Act issues, most people expect that to be the main topic of the day. But I'd expect to see everything come up, frankly.
GSA insiders think this may be the make-or-break deal for the administrator. A poor appearance, and the President could let her go, but a strong appearance and she could fight on. I'm sure they have practiced, but...listen, listen, listen.
I'm going to try to get over there for at least part of the hearing just to get a sense of the room.
In FCW's editorial last month, Doan's to-do list, one of our recommendations was:
Make oversight work. Figure out how to make the relationship with the inspector general and lawmakers work. Yes, GSA's IG has been overbearing, but there would be no better way to set an example for the procurement community than to show how oversight should work.
