We have long been reporting on the plight of lead system integrators -- a DISA official actually said that the era of the lead systems integrator is over. Many DOD officials and lawmakers are saying, essentially, that they cross the boundary by making decisions that agencies should be making.
Well, the WSJ this morning has a article headlined, Contractors in Lead Go on Defensive.
Lawmakers are questioning the idea of having a lead integrator on contracts. The WSJ says the lead-integrator approach grew out of cuts to Pentagon personnel levels and government desire to encourage efficiency. Some members of Congress question whether the contractors are subjected to enough scrutiny.
