Just an editor's note -- I'm taking Monday off to celebrate my birthday, which is Sunday. We're going to be on the Chesapeake Bay visiting Smith and Tangier islands. I've never been, but they seem like fascinating places. Smith Island was 'founded' by Capt. John Smith. (NPS has Capt. John Smith info here.) It is Maryland's only inhabited off-shore island. And I hear that residents of the islands even have a kind of Elizabethian English dialect.
Anyway, I'll be back at it on Tuesday -- although I'll be older. (No word on whether I'll be wiser.)
