FCW Insider: Are we having a flashback?

So my better half was on a train coming from New Jersey earlier this week and overheard what has become my favorite joke: You guess what year it is -- O.J. Simpson gets arrested, Hillary Clinton introduces a health care plan, and there is the possibility of a government shutdown.

That being said, a government shutdown seems unlikely at this point. Yes, the end of the government's fiscal year is about a week away and not a single spending bill has been passed. The House has taken action on all 12 bills. The Senate, however, has yet to act on seven of the 12 bills.

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) has proposed a no-shutdown proposal. New OMB Director Jim Nussle this week praised that provision, while taking a swipe at the Democratic leadership.

Can you say CR?
