Letter: Closing off Internet links will hurt R&D
The move takes away workers' ability to research new technologies.
Regarding “,” this will further strangle research and development! First we are stripped of the capability to write/modify executables, now we won't be able to research new technologies to advance our research. And who decides which 50 sites are authorized? Will this be like the present security policy that has been designed without user input? We might as well close up the labs and sit at home! When will these counterproductive measures cease so we can actually do our work? Does anyone realize what is involved in R&D?
