Letter: Feds should seek competence, not numbers

Closing off Internet links is an illogical move.

Clearly “OMB directs agencies to close off most Internet links” is yet another brilliant move.

Early in my career, I helped bring the Internet into NASA.

Now I can watch the government take it apart.

This reminds me of the clever move when people were retiring somewhere in the government, so no new chairs could be bought. Of course, no provision was issued for moving chairs from Alabama, where they were reducing headcount, to
California
, where it was going up.

I highly recommend the government go for competence rather than legislating an actual number of connections.
